Oriental Rug Event

Our First Annual Oriental Rug Event was a HUGE success! Since our store is not large enough to carry these rugs year round, we host this special event once a year to bring these high quality, fairly traded hand-knotted rugs to our community from the Main Rug Gallery at Ten Thousand Villages, Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

The pictures on this page are from this year's event, and we are eagerly anticipating our next Rug Event set for March 14-17, 2012. It's an event not to miss as these fairly traded rugs represent a win-win situation for all; high quality, fairly priced, hand-knotted rugs for the consumer and fairly paid, consistent jobs for artisans. Looking forward to seeing you in March 2012!

Decorating With Rugs

Whether you are redecorating, just bought your first home or are looking to add that finishing touch, Oriental rugs are surprisingly easy to design with. You don't have to be an expert to know what looks good. The most important thing is to find a rug that you love.

When you look for a rug, decide whether the rug will be the focus in a conversational area with other rugs as accents or cover the entire room. You will want to allow for a border of hardwood floor or other floor material to show on all sides of the rug.

Be flexible in sizing and you will increase the number of rugs to choose from. Furniture may be placed on top of the carpet or around it. It is quite alright to place the front legs of a chair or sofa on the rug and the back legs off. Most of all, a rug that "speaks to you" will provide more pleasure than one that goes perfectly with its surroundings.
